ATC Cabinets to enhance the pedestrian and vehicle safety on their streets in Sudbury ON

SWARCO McCain, Inc. and Innovative Traffic Solutions Inc. partner for first Canadian, full-city McCain ATC Cabinet installation

SAN DIEGO, California, January 18, 2023 - SWARCO McCain, Inc., a leader in the supply of advanced transportation solutions, and Innovative Traffic Solutions Inc., a longtime SWARCO McCain, Inc. distributor, today announced their partnership with the City of Greater Sudbury in the province of Ontario for the first Canadian full-city installation of the McCain ATC Cabinet. The project includes upgrades to 122 intersections over a period of three years and is part of the City’s plan to upgrade their traffic management infrastructure to a modern system that allows for future growth.

“This project aligns with City Council’s commitment to asset management and service excellence,” said Tony Cecutti, General Manager, Infrastructure Services for the City of Greater Sudbury. “This project relies on an organization that demonstrates a willingness to plan, implement, and innovate in accordance with short and long-term priorities. Initiatives that address this priority not only enable reliable service delivery; they also minimize costs for taxpayers in the long term.”

The cabinets provided in this project include the McCain M ATC Cabinet, with the traditional M footprint of NEMA cabinets, and McCain 356i ATC Cabinet, boasting a compact size and robust functionality. Overall, the McCain ATC Cabinet Series offers a modern design with advanced safety features including benefits like increased safety for technicians and drivers, enhanced operations, and reduced costs.

“We are very excited to be partnering with the City of Greater Sudbury on such a significant project,” said Frank Rao C.E.T., President of Innovative Traffic Solutions Inc. “The McCain ATC Cabinet has become the preferred cabinet choice throughout the traffic industry, and it’s no wonder why. If an agency is looking for smart traffic solutions that incorporates the latest technology and provide a platform for flexibility and growth-the McCain ATC Cabinet is the best choice.”

The project, to be completed in 2024, will not only provide the City with the infrastructure to support future growth and demand, but will also allow the City to leverage additional systems like transit signal priority and emergency vehicle preemption.

In a sweeping agreement to upgrade traffic management software in Canada’s most populated province, the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) has approved a plan to install McCain Inc.’s Transparity Traffic Management System (TMS) to control more than 500 signalized intersections. Rollout of the new software is expected to begin in the second quarter. Transparity TMS has a successful track record in Canada, including a similarly-sized deployment in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Longtime McCain Canadian partner and distributor, Innovative Traffic Solutions Inc., (ITS) secured the agreement. Developed by McCain Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SWARCO Group and a leader in the supply of intelligent transportation solutions for safety and mobility, Transparity TMS is a centralized system that proactively manages traffic flow and promotes mobility with real-time traffic data collection and management tools. The entire network will primarily be controlled from the MTO’s traffic management center in St. Catherines, Ontario, but Transparity TMS also enables each district to manage the system from their own locations. The flexibility of Transparity TMS plays perfectly into Ontario’s unique traffic management needs. While much of the population is centered around major cities in the GTAH (Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton), Ottawa, and Windsor, the province also includes sparsely populated regions, all of which will be controlled by Transparity TMS. McCain Chief Operating Officer Greg McKhann says the Ontario package showcases the best of Transparity TMS. “In designing the Transparity platform, we recognized that adaptability to dynamic environments is critical to our customers,” he said. “With the pace of technological innovation in traffic management, we are committed to creating products that not only outlive the current cycle but thrive well into the future.” To learn more about or to book your demonstration of Transparity TMS contact ITS at info@its-traffic.com or visit our website www.its-traffic.com.
